What you should know about Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa
Volunteers are an essential part of the RAH Africa programme. They ensure that the RAH Africa programme remains cost effective, thereby widening the reaches of the programme and assisting an increasing number of children and youth in our country. High School learners earn community service hours whilst having great fun and meeting new friends at our meal packaging events! Want to know when our next meal packaging event will take place? If you have specific skills and time to contribute on a more regular basis to Rise Against Hunger Africa, consider becoming a Volunteer Ambassador. Volunteer Ambassadors assist with all the activities involved before and after a meal- packaging event, as well as assisting in running the event itself. You will need to be reasonably fit, and willing to assist with carrying ingredients and set- up equipment. A meal packaging event is a fun and engaging way for volunteers to be part of the drive to end child hunger. An impact assessment of results achieved is submitted to the donor, hopefully securing further funding. The meals are highly nutritious and comprise of rice, soya, dehydrated vegetable mix and a fortification pack of 23 essential minerals and vitamins specifically formulated to combat malnutrition (complying with the UNICEF standard). The meal packaging event is a fun and engaging way for volunteers to be part of the drive to end child hunger. Our volunteers range from children as young as four years old to senior citizens. Scholars that volunteer are awarded a Community Service Certificate. Given the efficiencies of hosting of meal packaging events, we are able to scale the event from one benefiting a single ECD to a series of packaging events that would benefit an entire community.
